A Framework For Innovation In The Covid 19 Era And Beyond
The National Academy of Engineering was established in 1964 from the charter of the National Academy of Sciences to bring engineering practices into national consultation. Fellows are elected by their peers for outstanding contributions to engineering. Dr. John L. Anderson is president.
The National Academy of Medicine (formerly the Institute of Medicine) advises the public on matters of medicine and health care under the 1970 Charter of the National Academy of Sciences. Fellows are selected by their peers for making significant contributions to medicine and health. The president Dr. Victor J. Dzau.
The three academies act as the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to provide the nation with independent and objective analysis and advice, and perform other functions to address complex issues and inform public policy decisions. National Academies promote education and research, recognize outstanding contributions to knowledge, and advance public understanding of science, engineering, and medicine.
Consensus study reports published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report evidence-based consensus on the study charter by an expert committee of authors. Reports usually contain findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on the information gathered by the committee and the committee’s deliberations. Each report has undergone a rigorous and independent peer review process and represents the National Academies’ position on the practice setting.

Proceedings, published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, records presentations and discussions at a seminar, symposium, or other event convened by the National Academies. The statements and opinions contained in the proceedings are those of the participants and are not endorsed by other participants, the Planning Commission, or the National Academies.

These workshop proceedings were abstracted by selected individuals with diverse perspectives and technical expertise. The purpose of this independent review is to provide candid and critical feedback to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to ensure that each published article is as robust as possible and meets institutional standards of quality, objectivity, evidence, and peer review. The National Academies International Forum on Innovations in Health Professional Education has conducted a series of workshops to introduce health educators to the use of applied science concepts in the classroom. The speakers laid the groundwork for discussing the role of applied science in health professions education and provided methods for educators interested in implementing these recommendations on a scale. This seminar proceedings highlights the presentations and discussions that took place during the seminar.
